How do you guys feel about it?

In 1966, the auto world was taken by storm with the release of one of the most iconic vehicles in history, the dodge charger. Roaring to life with the famous Hemi V8 from Chrysler, this “pony car” would go on to dominate the competition for years. However that is all coming to an end and in 2025 the hemi will be put to rest. Not only is the hemi gone, but this generation of the charger will have an electric variant as well. Dodge promises that the perforce will be better than ever but we will only know the true answer to that question once we can get behind that wheel and test it out for ourselves. For now, this is everything we know about the new 2025 Dodge Charger.

New Powertrain

The 2025 dodge charger will have a few options when it comes to the powertrain. With the first option in the EV line up being the Charger 340, referring to the amount of power in kilowatts. This roughly equates to about 455 horsepower. The next in line is the Charger 440, equaling to about 590 horsepower. The next model in line is what will be replacing the hellcat flagship and will be known as the SRT Banshee which will utilize a 800 volt architecture that could produce numbers as high as 900 horsepower going to EACH WHEEL. Yes you heard that right, each wheel which is an absurd amount of power but expected from the speed demons at Dodge. Thankfully there will be a gas powered variant as well for all the old school car heads that will be sporting their 3.0 liter 6 cylinder twin turbo hurricane engine, with the high performing output being 550 horsepower(also known as the Sixpack H.O.). The lower performing version(known as the Sixpack S.O.) will be sporting a solid 420 horsepower output. All versions of the Charger will come in All wheel drive which may come as a disappointment to some but will increase 0-60 times and the general performance of the car. This will keep the 8 speed.

Design

The new generation of the charger will have a 2 door and 4 door option which means we will be saying goodbye to the beloved challenger. Dodge chose to go back to the roots with the charger introducing the 2 door variant back into the market. This new generation almost looks like a combination of the charger and challenger combined with the sides reminiscing the charger contours and the front looking like a slightly more rounded front of a challenger. There will be one long led strip along that bottom of the grill which will serve as the headlight. The tail light will wrap around in a rectangle shape on the rear of the car. The interior is getting a revamp to going with a much more simplistic approach following the EV trend.

These changes are drastic and may seem scary to many however we will only know what was the right move once we can get behind the wheel of one of these new chargers. I know for a fact I am a little upset with dodge abandoning the V8 line but I also can't argue with the specs of some of these new models. It truly is an uncertain time in the auto industry with the push for electric vehicles and phasing out of all the big block engines but only time will tell if it's for the better or worse.
